Shooting services and familiarization with equipment: Uzbekistan proposes to develop military tourism
The Agency for Strategic Reforms of Uzbekistan has proposed developing geological, scientific and military types of tourism. This is stated on the agency's website.
As specified, the agency and the Tourism Committee have developed a draft resolution "On additional measures to improve the system of providing information in the field of tourism and creating new opportunities."
The document provides for the introduction of the following tourism areas from January 1, 2025:
- geological tourism (visiting mines, inactive geological and industrial sites, and other sites and zones);
- industrial and scientific tourism (visiting production areas of mining and metallurgical plants, industrial facilities);
- organization of military tourism (familiarization with military equipment, providing tourists with the opportunity to use it at training grounds, familiarization with the activities of military personnel, organizing paid shooting services in military zones, etc.).
Car rental companies are offered permission to provide services in airport and railway station areas.
To increase the attractiveness of Uzbekistan in the tourism sector and improve the awareness of tourists, it is necessary to equip tourist sites with modern navigation and orientation systems. This includes digital and interactive systems, such as signs, banners, electronic maps and mobile applications that will help tourists easily navigate and get all the necessary information, the report says.
