The President visited the Defense Industry Agency`s Center for Innovative Technologies
On February 21, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Center for Innovative Technologies of the Defense Industry Agency, where he got acquainted with production capacities, advanced developments, and military and dual-use products.The development of the defense industry plays a key role in strengthening the country's defense capability along with the professional training of military personnel. The establishment of a modern defense industry in Uzbekistan on the initiative of the President was a historic achievement. The Agency under the Ministry of Defense carries out systematic work to modernize weapons, master new technologies, and introduce promising developments into the troops.
The Center for Innovative Technologies has established the production of about 80 types of military equipment and dual-use products. Start-up projects in robotics and unmanned aerial vehicles are supported.
During the visit, the President was presented with new models of military equipment, promising projects, and plans for the further development of the defense sector.
The head of state emphasized that these are only the first steps in developing the industry and it is necessary to continue working to increase the competitiveness of the domestic defense complex. He gave specific instructions on expanding production capabilities, developing new types of products, using innovative technologies and artificial intelligence.
Instructions were given on broader involvement of the private sector in the industry on a contractual basis, expanding the range of military and dual-use products. Particular attention was paid to creating new jobs, training specialists, and organizing laboratories for new types of equipment.
It should be noted that the defense industry enterprises of Uzbekistan actively participate in international specialized exhibitions. In particular, more than 100 units of military equipment and domestically produced products are presented at the IDEX-2025 exhibition held from February 17 to 21 in Abu Dhabi (UAE). Among the exhibits are the Arslon 8x8 and Arslon 6x6 armored personnel carriers, as well as the Tufon self-propelled howitzer, which aroused great interest among foreign partners.
Following the visit, the President outlined strategic directions for the further development of the defense industry and set specific tasks for responsible persons to ensure high quality products, expand production potential and strengthen the positions of domestic producers in the international market.
