Uzbek snipers won the international competition in South Korea for the second year in a row

From September 3 to 10, the III International Sniper Competition, organized by the Special Operations Forces Command of the South Korean Army, took place in the South Korean city of Gwangju. For the third time, the national sniper team of the Ministry of Defense of Uzbekistan took part in the competition. This is reported by the Ministry of Defense press service.

A total of 28 sniper teams from 8 countries also took part in the competition, including from the UAE (2), Vietnam (3), Mongolia (2), Turkey (1), Cambodia (1), Kazakhstan (1), and South Korea (15). Egypt and the Turkish gendarmerie were observer countries.

The competition program included 20 stages consisting of special tactical exercises performed both during the day and at night. Participants had to demonstrate a high level of skill with a pistol, assault rifle, and sniper weapons, hitting targets at various distances in urban, mountainous, and wooded terrain.

«The distinctive feature of this year’s competition was that none of the special shooting exercises repeated the tasks from the previous year. At the same time, the conditions and rules of each exercise were not disclosed to the participants until it began. In addition, 40% of the targets during the competition were moving and flying targets in the form of drones», — the statement said.

It is also noted that the main feature of the competition was testing the snipers’ ability to remain calm and composed in conditions close to combat, maintain focus and demonstrate endurance, as well as perform exercises during the day and at night under conditions of intense stress.

As a result of the competition, the national team of Uzbekistan, with 678.4 points, took a honorable first place among 13 sniper teams from foreign countries. Vietnam took second place (666.6 points) and Turkey (471.1 points).

Recall that in 2024, the Ministry of Defense team of Uzbekistan took second place in this competition, and in 2025 — first place.
