By 2025, Kazakhstan`s defense spending will grow to $1.3 billion

Kazakhstan's defense spending will grow to $1.4 billion, or 0.68% of GDP by 2025, the Kazakh Finance Ministry reported. But Kazakh MP Bapi expressed doubt that this amount is sufficient to increase the army's combat readiness and prepare for potential conflicts. During the presentation of the draft 3-year budget, he demanded that the Defense Ministry's budget be increased to 1% of GDP. Bapi explained his position by the growing geopolitical risks in the region. The MP noted that some experts predict the possibility of a global conflict by 2030.

"Comparing our defense spending with current events in Ukraine, we can say that the allocated funds are clearly insufficient. Only 0.4% of GDP will be allocated for defense in 2025. What are these calculations based on?" Bapi said (Italics)
