Uzbekistan has improved its position in the ranking of the world`s strongest armies

In the ranking of the world’s most powerful armies compiled by the Global Firepower analytical center, the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan ranked 53rd out of 145 countries.

This result is five positions higher than last year, when the country’s army held 58th place.

According to Global Firepower estimates, Uzbekistan’s total population exceeds 36.5 million, nearly 19 million of whom fall into the category of available labor and mobilization resources. More than 15.9 million people are considered fit for military service, placing Uzbekistan among the leaders in this indicator (32nd out of 145 countries).

The active military personnel number approximately 120,000 troops. The majority serve in the ground forces (around 95,000), while the rest are in the air force.

Data show that the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan operate a total of 159 aircraft. Of these, 87 are considered combat-ready. The air force includes 101 helicopters, accounting for more than 63% of the entire aviation fleet. By this indicator, Uzbekistan ranks highly (36th out of 145).

The country also operates 34 attack helicopters, 19 of which are combat-ready (20th place).

Uzbekistan’s arsenal includes 470 tanks, with 259 in combat-ready condition (30th place). The total number of armored vehicles stands at 8,692 units, of which 4,781 are operational.

The artillery forces include 177 self-propelled artillery systems, 97 of which are combat-ready (23rd place), 236 towed artillery pieces (130 operational, 43rd place), and 108 multiple launch rocket systems.

Among Central Asian countries, Uzbekistan leads the ranking. It is followed by Kazakhstan in 58th place, Turkmenistan in 78th, Tajikistan in 100th, and Kyrgyzstan in 109th.

As in the previous year, the U.S. military topped the ranking, followed by Russia in second place and China in third.
