Uzbekistan signed the UN Convention against Cybercrime

Uzbekistan, Tashkent – AN Podrobno.uz. Uzbekistan supported the global initiative and signed the UN Convention against Cybercrime. Our country took an active part in the development of the document at all stages of the project.

On behalf of the government of Uzbekistan, the UN document was signed by the speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, Nuriddinjon Ismailov. The ceremony took place in the capital of Vietnam, Hanoi, Dunyo reports.

It was attended by Vietnamese President Luong Quang, the country`s Prime Minister Pham Minh Trinh, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, UN Deputy Secretary-General, Executive Director of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime Ghada Wali, as well as about two thousand delegates from more than 100 countries.

It should be noted that at international forums, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has repeatedly emphasized that cybercrime poses a threat to national and global security. The head of state is confident that the world community must join forces in the fight against it; no country can eliminate this threat alone. The adoption of this document at the international level is of great importance for ensuring the safe and sustainable development of the digital space.

Let us recall that in Uzbekistan it is planned to develop a separate law regulating the work to combat cybercrimes. It will establish a unified practice, and at the same time strengthen the liability of legal entities for non-compliance with cybersecurity requirements and possible crimes committed using their infrastructure.
